An evening where researchs will share insight on how healthcare research is being conducted to address women's health
Delivering gender-sensitive healthcare
Daniëlle van Veldhuizen
(Postdoctoral Researcher)
Research on gender-sensitive healthcare, with a particular focus on women's health, is receiving growing attention in the Netherlands. Healthcare is often optimized for men, as most research has been conducted on male patients or male volunteers. We can all think about the obvious differences between men and women, for example differences in hormones, but did you ever think of differences in bone structures between men and women? What do these differences tell us and how can we consider them in treatment optimalisation? During Pint of Science we will show results from research and what this entails for treatment decision making.

Prescription differences by sex
Iris Hamers
(PhD Researcher)
Ever wondered why the same pill doesn’t always work the same for everyone? There are important differences in how men and women process medications. But it doesn’t stop there, big hormonal changes, like menopause, can influence how well medicines work and what side effects we feel. Come explore the surprising science behind sex, hormones, and the meds we take—and why one-size-fits-all medicine doesn’t quite fit all.
