ChatGPT: Superhero or supervillain?

Τruths and lies about Large Language Models

Jerry Spanakis works with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs) (truth). He has been working with NLP for more than 15 years (bitter truth). He is a superhero (lie). His collaborators think he is a superhero because he understands NLP (big truth). He was surprised when ChatGPT was released (lie). ChatGPT will create more problems than it solves (hopefully a lie). In this talk you will hear more truths than lies about LLMs (hard truth).

ChatGPT & education -

revolution, evolution or business as usual?

Given the pace of global change, a key question he is dealing with at EDLAB is how Maastricht University can provide the best possible learning experience to prepare students for an uncertain future. The rise of ChatGPT has made one thing very clear: we need to evolve critical thinking and digital literacy skills education in line with the development of technology. During his Pint of Science presentation, he will go into challenges and opportunities of ChatGPT on education and future scenarios for higher education. Fun fact: Whereas he works with future visions, innovative trends and new technologies in education, he has quite archaic hobbies such as reading history books, fencing and playing the accordion.
