Robots as colleagues -
how they can boost insect farming and teaching

Lucas is particularly interested in using cognitive robotics for the assessment of children in education (social robotics) and wearable devices in rehabilitation (assistive robotics). In this talk, he will present two applications of cognitive robotics. We will learn how robots are going to support insect farmers and help us to secure sustainable food sources. Then, Lucas will give us some insights about social robotics, particularly how robots can be brought to school and become teachers’ best allies.

The Ethics of Being an AI Developer -
Agency, Dilemmas, and the Future of Decision-Making

Tricia has conducted the first known study that centers developers’ ethical agency in the conversation about AI ethics. In this talk, she will present the findings from her interviews with a worldwide cohort of 40 developers. She will reveal how developers perceive themselves in the ethical environment, how often ethical decisions are “veiled” as purely technical ones, and how developers navigate ethical dilemmas.
